HistoryEnforcement action issued to system on 5/5/03.
StatusConstruction of treatment facility complete and operational. Report on system effectiveness showed that system is producing water that is below maximum contaminant levels(MCL) for disinfection byproducts. Running annual average should be below MCL in several quarters and PWS will return to compliance.

Health EffectsSome people who drink water containing fluoride in excess of the MCL over many years could get bone disease, including pain and tenderness of the bones. Fluoride in drinking water at half the MCL or more may cause mottling of children’s teeth, usually in children less than nine years old. Mottling, also known as dental fluorosis, may include brown staining and/or pitting of the teeth, and occurs only in developing teeth before they erupt from the gums.

Details and Recent ResultsSample collected on August 12, 2006 had 2.1 mg/L fluoride. Proof of public notice received 7/ 30/ 2007.
HistorySamples results received since the year 2000 vary between 1.9 and 2.2 mg/L fluoride. The water system is required to test the drinking water for fluoride every three years.
StatusThe water system historically has natural fluoride levels above 2.0 mg/L. The system is required public notice annually, but is not required to install treatment to reduce the anount of fluoride in the water.
