Ground Water Technical Assistance Units |
Mission:
Our job is to protect Ohio's ground water resources by providing technical assistance to the public, regulated community, other governmental entities and other Divisions of Ohio EPA.
In Brief
The District and Central Office Technical Assistance Unit staff provide technical support to the public, the regulated community, Ohio EPA Office of Federal Facilities Operations and Ohio EPA Divisions of: Solid and Infectious Waste Management, Emergency and Remedial Response, Hazardous Wastes, Surface Water, and Environmental and Financial Assistance. Technical support is provided by responding to questions from the public and regulated community concerning ground water related issues. Technical assistance also includes, at the request of the relevant Ohio EPA division:
- reviewing hydrogeologic reports/work plans, ground water quality submittals and ground water monitoring program plans;
- conducting site/facility inspections related to ground water monitoring programs;
- conducting ground water sampling;
- preparing preliminary evaluation reports;
- attending meetings;
- and developing and/or reviewing general or program-specific ground water policy or guidance.
Technical Assistance Requests
Questions concerning the site specific geology or ground water conditions of a particular regulated facility should be addressed to staff within the appropriate District Office. General questions about ground water investigative techniques and DDAGW policy, guidance and procedures to:
- For questions related to regulation of non-hazardous solid waste and waste water facilities: Lindsay Taliaferro III and Scott Sutliff;
- For questions related to the regulation of hazardous waste facilities under RCRA: Jeff Patzke and Katie Crowell; and
- For questions related to the regulation of facilities under CERCLA or related to the Voluntary Action Program: Jeff Patzke and Lisa Koenig.
